Our Story
HDT Lab is the XR (Extended Reality) laboratory of Diorama (*). It is a research, development and experimentation environment focused on operational projects related to digital technologies and their applications in the field of immersive vision. The laboratory works in close connection with the market, collaborating with various sectors through established relationships, promotional activities and participation in key trade shows, with the goal of continuously expanding the audience of potential users of the solutions developed.
The heart of HDT Lab’s offering is the creation of digital twins — 3D reconstructions of existing or planned objects — for insertion into real and virtual contexts.
From this experience, HDT Suite was born: a platform of multiple software applications that enables simple, intuitive management of digital twins in extended reality via HMD headsets, available in different versions depending on the sector of application.
Our mission is to create emotions through innovative digital vision technologies.
(*) DIORAMA operates in the field of graphics and digital design at multiple levels. The company works across digital graphics — producing videos, DVDs, renders and photorealistic animations and CAD design — developing virtual reality projects and multimedia applications for advertising and educational purposes. Diorama’s solutions are applied across numerous fields, including construction and architecture, tourism and mechanical engineering.
The Technology
Why Choose Extended Reality (XR):
Unlike standalone virtual reality, which completely isolates the user from the real world, Extended Reality allows users to remain connected with the real environment, enriching it with three-dimensional digital content perfectly integrated into the surrounding physical space. The ability to move freely around or inside an object while maintaining a real view of the surrounding environment allows the user to avoid the disorienting sense of void typical of pure VR.
It is possible to see, explore and interact with custom-built virtual objects, creating an immersive and engaging experience born from the fusion of the real and the digital. The result is a natural, intuitive and highly memorable physical-virtual interaction, capable of transforming the way people perceive products, spaces and content.
Generate curiosity
The ability to discover digital content that takes shape in the real world immediately stimulates curiosity and pushes the user to want to experience something new, different and surprising. Technology thus becomes a powerful tool for attraction and engagement.

Evoke emotions
The WOW effect is guaranteed by the uniqueness of the experience.
Being able to directly interact with a three-dimensional object, observe it from every angle, modify it or activate it with natural gestures generates authentic and immediate emotions. It is a new, engaging and memorable sensation, capable of creating a strong emotional connection with the content or brand.
Lasting impact
Even a few minutes of XR experience has a lasting impact. What is lived in an active and immersive way is imprinted in memory, becoming a distinctive and easily recognisable recollection over time. Extended Reality does not merely communicate a message: it makes you live it, making it unique and hard to forget.
The Team
We handle every essential aspect of your immersive cultural experience in Extended Reality: from hardware selection and configuration, to technical support and device delivery and collection logistics.
Our large team of over 20 professionals (developers, 3D designers, software engineers…) will adapt to your needs and personalise your experience.
We have specific expertise in the reconstruction of historic sites, having collaborated for more than thirty years with the Italian Institute of Castles (Istituto Italiano dei Castelli), the most important organisation in Italy for the study and research of fortifications. Thanks to our joint work, it is possible to represent the evolutionary phases of fortifications, virtually reproducing structures with a scientifically valid approach based on correctly collected and interpreted historical, archaeological and architectural data.
